Recoil: I don't why but I like this card. And finally when our combo goes off they are good for emptying the opponent's hand. Also they are great for many combo decks. Duress + Inquisition of Kozilek + Hymn to Tourach = Protect your combo pieces and/or yourself from any unwanted spell by making opponent discard it before he has a chance to cast it. Anvil of Bogardan + Liliana's Caress = Every discard cost opponent 2 lifes and Anvil make him discard every turn. Since we have lots of instant/sorceries in the deck, in late game those two can be a great finisher. While having Flying + Deathtouch + First Strike at the same time it can kill pretty much anything without dying. (you know the rule, nobody can cast anything in the draw phase) Baleful Strix + Runechanter's Pike = Baleful is a great card by itself but if you equip it with Pike it will became the ultimate blocker. Beauty of this combo is all triggers happening in draw phase so opponent can't cast the new drawn spell even if it is an instant or have flash. And you get an extra card in every opponent's turns. So he can not get any new spells unless he lose an old one.
Notion Thief makes him skip the extra draw. Anvil of Bogardan + Notion Thief = Anvil makes opponents draw an extra card and discard a card in draw phase.
